Sidney S. Moss is listed in the 1910 Census as a sawmill owner somewhere in San Augustine County. He may be a relative of Zachary S. Moss, who owned a sawmill at Altonia, in the county, from 1905 to 1907. The county records reveal that Sidney S. Moss in 1903 mortgaged for a 9-inch by 12-inch Atlas steam engine, a 36-inch by 10-foot boiler, a Van Winkle sawmill with a 48-inch saw, a planer-matcher, a 60-saw Winship cotton gin, a sawmill building, and a gin house.
