Davis Mill
According to a Bronson newspaper, in September 1906, the mill shipped fifty-three cars of lumber, cutting at 25,000 feet daily for 600,000 for the month. Forty teams were required to haul the cut to the railroad. Seventy men, with a monthly payroll of $3,500, were required to run operations. The commissary carried a stock worth $7,400, and the company had built twelve tenant houses.
This may have been an A. E. Davis mill who also would later buy the Cotton mill at Birdwell's Switch.
Mill management included W. H. Davenport, foreman and filer; Otto Davis, sawyer; L. Roberts, team boss; Wallace Clark, woods foreman; and Dr. Giles Smith, physician.
The Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1907 did not note this mill among its three listings.
