Along with its mill northwest of Milam, Foley-Noble acquired from E. M. Luttrell his sawmill in April 1918. C. E. Noble sold out to Hugh Foley, Foley agreeing to pay ten notes of $650 to Bronson State Bank. Tilford-Hunt Lumber Company had a first mortgage on the sawmill in the amount of $2,094, while a second mortgaged was executed to C. E. Noble.
Hugh Foley had sawmilling experience. He was listed in the 1910 Census as a “manager, lumber company,” living in San Augustine County, at Pct. 1, res. 141.
C. E. Noble would continue in the sawmill industry in the Sabine River area until World War II.
