T. W. Jeans & Son

The “T. W. Jeanes & Sons” was listed inaccurately in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1905 at Swannville in San Augustine by stating the nearest rail connection was at Nacogdoches. According to San Augustine county records, T. W. and W. F. Jeanes mortgaged with Walt Connally Co. for $1,000 a boiler, engine, sawmill, and machinery.
In fact, Swannville was just north of Bronson, location of a Jeanes family sawmill. Its sawn lumber was probably sent to the family's sawmill at Rush, about five miles south, for planing. The American Lumberman's Reference Book for 1907 lists the Jeans sawmill and general store at Bronson and drops the listing for Swannville. It still did not carry a listing for Rush.
