Center Plywood Corporation
In 1948, the Center Wood Products Company opened as a box plant at center. In 1952, a cold-press plywood plant was added to the operations, manufacturing plywood from sweet gum and black gum. In 1952, M. L. Anderson sold to Center Woods Products Company its planing mill, including the building, planers, blowers, and a Ross lift truck. In 1956, a hot-press machine was added. The company was incorporated in in 1960 as the Center Plywood Corporation.
The plant was making custom-designed furniture parts by 1968. Raw materials included river birch, hard and soft maple, basswood, sycamore, magnolia, sweetgum, black gum, cottonwood, and box elder. Richard C. Boyette was vice-president and general manager.
The Center Plywood Co., Inc. is listed in the 1987 Forest Products Industries in Texas.
