The J. D. Chadwick Lumber Company appeared in the 1957 edition of Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. It may have developed from the Chadwick & Killian Lumber Company at Center in 1934. J. D. Chadwick had a sawmill operation four miles north of Carthage in 1925.
