W. F. Owens took a mortgage for $900 for a half-interest in the sawmill of J. D. Haynes. Haynes was operating a sawmilling business with a Curtis Dixie D carriage, and a circular Dixie sawmill rig, a 44-inch by 10-ft Ames boiler, a 10-inch by 12-inch Ames engine, an edger, a cutoff saw, three circular saws, and a sawdust chain.
