Smith & Adams

Smith & Adams mortgaged to Dilley & Son for $621 an Ames tubular horizontal boiler, an Ames center-crank engine, a Curtis #2 sawmill, and a circular saw. This may be the Adams referred to The History of Shelby County, which noted that Ben Adams operated as late as 1913 a grist mill, shingle mill, and cotton gin at his farm west of Prospect on FM 1645. He lost two fingers and a thumb in 1913 at the sawmill.
