Evans Lumber Co.

The W. P. Evans Lumber Co. of Coldspring was the forerunner of the Evans Lumber Co. there. In 1944, W. P. Evans Lumber mortgaged to the Peoples Bank of Shepherd a Red Seal diesel engine, a portable sawmill with a carriage, edger, and cutoff saw, and a 1937 Buick motor. The mill had been from C. M. Yates on May 20, 1944. Yates had been sawing the year before in Timpson, where he had bought the sawmill outfit.
The Evans Lumber Co appeared in the 1957 edition of Nelson T. Samson's Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas and in the Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958.
