Tarrant Industries

The mill was established by M. J. Maxwell in 1940, about a mile south of Bullard on Highway 69. Total production in board feet for 1973 was more than one million feet. Maxwell did and contracted logging. Besides being a sawmill and planing mill, it also had a box factory, hardboard plant, chip mill, and a veneer mill. Jim Tarrant purchased the operation in 1979. By 1987, the business consisted of a sawmill and pallet mill, producing pine and hardwood lumber, pallets, skids, boxes, and crates.
