Archibald H. Ramsour

According to Dr. Woldert, Archibald Ramsour operated a sawmill east of Tyler on 200 acres on the west end of the Isaac Renfroe League. His mill was used for local consumption. Much of his lumber, all sold direct at the mill, was used in building houses in Tyler. The carpenters had to season the lumber before building. Seasoning would have been either by air-drying or by using an Arkansas smoke kiln.
Smith County Deed Records note in 1851 that A. Hosea Ramsour and Richard B. Tutt gave a deed of trust to Wilson G. Tutt, from Rusk County, to erect a saw and grist mill on 1107 acres located about six miles east of Tyler. Hose Ramsour operated a sawmill in Rusk County himself.
