Joseph P. “Joc” Douglas
Moorer and Carter, according to Dr. Woldert, who was raised in Tyler from the age of four in 1849, had a sawmill on the William Ragland Survey in the southern part of Smith County. This land was later owned by Dr. Woldert. Woldert writes that the sawmill “operated for many years after the Civil War, or until the boiler exploded, killing several employees. It was managed at one time by Mr. Burkett.”
