"This Everlasting Sand Bed": Cultural Resources Investigations at the Texas Big Sandy Project, Wood and Upshur Counties, Texas reported that T. D. and J. F. Davis owned a sawmill in the eastern part of Wood County from about 1905 to the early 1920s. This would coincide with the time that Davis Lumber Company owned a sawmill near Bettie, north of Gilmer, in Upshur County.
