Thompson-Ford Lumber Company
The oil boom at Sour Lake led to the building of a sawmill by George Enloe as early as the fall of 1903. Peter Doucette bought the mill the following year. He moved it to Batson community then back to Sour Lake, where he took a partner by the name of Wiess. The Frisco Lumber Company of A. C. Ford and W. B. Ward, Jr., had the mill by 1906 and had moved it to Ora. The partners dismantled the mill and built a much larger operation about one and a half miles to the east in 1907.
