Dixon & (?) Saw and Grist Mill

The Dixon (handwriting on the manuscript is almost illegible) sawmill was d a capital investment of $1,000, according to the census of 1870. Raw materials included $2,725 worth of wood and pine logs, and $15,600 worth of 15,600 bushels of unmilled corn. Eight men were employed for twelve months at a total wage of $2,000. The operation manufactured 225,000 feet of lumber valued at $4,500, and milled $18,200 worth of cornmeal.
