Morgan Bros
T. C. and J. H. Morgan of Hunt County operated the sawmill firm of Morgan Brothers at Big Sandy, Upshur County, during the 1890s. County records note that the sawmill and planing mill were located about one-half mile southwest of Big Sandy on leased land between the Cotton Belt and Texas & Pacific railroads. The brothers provided tenant housing and a commissary. Logging was done with fifty-two oxen. Timber was shipped over a seven-mile tram; rolling stock consisted of a shay engine, thirteen logging cars, a box car, and two hand cars. The Galveston Weekly News reported in 1893 that the mill was cutting 30,000 feet daily.
