Crawford & Faulkner

Research by W. T. Block has located the Crawford & Faulkner sawmill about two and a half miles east of D. M. Angle's Switch, itself two miles east of New Waverly. A mortgage filed in county records reveals that B. P. Crawford and S. W. Faulkner, in 1883, mortgage through W. F. Spiller, Trustee for Willie and Green Ferguson, for the latter's sawmill: “that property situated in Walker County” four and a half miles “east of New Waverly and” two and a half miles “east of D. M. Angle's Switch. . .” The steam-powered sawmill was sold to Crawford & Faulkner on January 22, 1883, along with four-wheel log wagons, six oxen, and 119,000 feet of lumber, to be delivered during the following seven months.
