Walter Murray
Murray, according to Walker County, Texas: A History, “owned and operated the western-most sawmill in Texas paid for West Texas lands with lumber. In 1845, he built the first painted house in Walker County, generally referred to as the ‘White House'. . .”. He later moved to Crabbs Prairie in 1854, where the his sawmill was probably located when enumerated in the Census of 1860.
