Drury Izard

Drury Izard operated a sawmill at what is now the end of present-day Snow Road in Waller during the 1930s. In lieu of a mill pond, Izard had water piped from a well near his home. Logging was done with a crosscut saw; the logs were rolled onto wagons with skid poles and then hauled by mule-drawn wagon to mill. The sawmill closed when the timber became exhausted; its iron parts were sold to the Reinhardt mill.
