M. Cooper remembered that Peewee Joel operated a portable sawmill, based at Lovelady, Houston County, during the 1940s. “Joel” may have been his pronunciation for the R. L. Jowell Lumber Company based at Frankston during the same period. Joel cut timber in Nacogdoches County during that period.
