B. Boettcher was reported to have operated a sawmill in Westfield by the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1905. He was not listed in the Southern Industrial and Lumber Review's September 1906 listing of sawmills. However, interestingly enough, a Boettcher organized the Westfield Lumber Company, operating at Westfield until 1929, when it moved the lumber manufacturing operation to Huntsville. The Gulf Coast Lumberman noted in June, 1929, the company had cut out. In 1934, the Boettcher Lumber Company had a retail lumber yard at Westfield. The purchasing department was at Huntsville.
