Big Tree Lumber Company

The Big Tree Lumber Company was listed in the Reference Book of the Lumbermen's Credit Association, January 1905 and in its 1907 listing. It also owned plants at Hampton and Alonzo. The Southern Industrial and Lumber Review reported in October, 1908, that “The sawmills of the Big Tree Lumber Company at this place [Smith-Houston] and at Alonzo, Texas are running full time, as are three others mills that this progressive concern represents as sale agents.” The Southern Lumberman noted that same month that the company was building a new planing mill with a 30,000-ft capacity.
