The Acme Lumber and Manufacturing Company

The Acme Lumber and Manufacturing Company was ready for business in 1893. On three acres were a three-story planing mill, a steam power plant building, a lumber shed, an office building, a hardware store, and a sash and door factory.
The factory employed forty to fifty men. The company worked with 11,000,000 board feet of lumber in its first year of operation.
Sam Allen was listed in a railroad directory in 1884 as running a lumber yard in Houston.
