Greer Lumber Company

Jasper County records reveal that the Greer Lumber Company was operating in 1912. That year it mortgaged to Jasper State Bank for four yoke of oxen, yokes and chins, and an 8-wheel wagon. Greer Mill, near Roganville, appeared in a 1915 directory of sawmills as having a daily cutting capacity of 30,000 feet. The mill cut pine and hardwoods, mostly into ties and timbers. The largest stock the mill could cut was 32-feet by 16-inches by 16-inches.
