Hart Stud Mill
Officers of the Hart Stud Mill were Carl T. Bledsoe, vice president; Willard Smith, secretary-treasurer; Jack McAnulty, plant superintendent. The Southern Lumberman announced in January, 1964, that Hart Creosoting Co.'s division, the Hart Stud Mill, with Andrew Hart, president, was operating a scrap mill to produce precisioned-trimmed, kiln-dried southern pine studs. The daily cutting capacity was 100,000 board feet. The Hart Stud mill employed 150 workers at the Evadale mill in 1973. Total production in 1973 was forty million board feet. The mill no longer appeared in the Directory of the Forest Products Industry in 1977. It also had a planing mill and a wood preserving plant. The plant worked with a variety of pines.
