Western Naval Stores Co.
Webb in the Handbook of Texas recorded that the Western Naval Stores Co. operated a turpentine camp and distillery at Wenasco in Jasper County from about 1915 to 1919. The company had several satellite camps, Wenasco being one of the larger ones with a work force of 300 employees and a population of 500. It was dismantled in 1919.
