Burrus Lumber Company.
The Barber Lumber and Manufacturing Company employed forty workers noted the Beaumont Enterprise, in 1927. The operation was purchased by Burrus Lumber Company in November 1929. The Burrus Lumber Company sawmill facility at Beaumont suffered from fire damage on June 4, 1948. The sawmill was destroyed, but the planing mill and dry kilns were saved. Estimated losses totaled between $75,000 and $100,000.
By December, 1953, the company had converted to a concentration treatment plant and was not milling lumber. The company was noted in the Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas edition of 1957.
