Globe Planing Mill

J. L. Williams and Alexander Young formed the Globe Planing Mill Company in 1878 and performed valuable service to the major lumber mills in Beaumont. In 1880, its product value was $85,000. Lightning was responsible for a fire in 1885 that destroyed one small building. The mill disappears without notice from history, either sold to a local, larger firm or perhaps moved to a later Young and Williams mill. By 1884, Alexander Young was sawmilling at Warren and Woodville, Tyler County.
