Keeling lists the George W. Fouke Lumber Company and his Texas and Oklahoma Railroad with two geared locomotives working on a logging tram. Keeling further notes that Waterman Lumber Company and Fouke had a joint tram operation but gives no area or time listing. According to The Gilmer Mirror, the Waterman Lumber Company had extensive milling and logging interests in Upshur County at and after the turn of the century. The sawmill site began with the facility of Rowland Gwynne Andrews in 1906. He sold it in 1916 to Waterman Lumber Company, according to "This Everlasting Sand Bed": Cultural Resources Investigations at the Texas Big Sandy Project, Wood and Upshur Counties, Texas.� A company logging tram supported both company’s operations. Waterman ran the sawmill until the early 1920s.

During this time period, Fouke, noted "This Everlasting Sand Bed": Cultural Resources Investigations at the Texas Big Sandy Project, Wood and Upshur Counties, Texas was operating a logging tram road and a mill north of Hawkins and west of Rhonesboro in 1906. He was listed as cutting 50,000 feet daily of pine yardstock and dimension in 1915 at Hawkins. Wood County deed records note that Fouke bought quite an amount of timber and land in Wood County near the Hawkins area.
