Historicial Development: H. M. Smith's sawmill at Huntington was noted in the 1957 Directory of Wood-Using and Related Industries in East Texas. The Directory of Texas Manufacturers 1956-1958 noted that Henry M. Smith of Huntington began his sawmill in 1940. Smith employed less than ten workers to manufacture pine lumber.
