Historicial Development: G. L. Witherspoon operated a tie mill at Conroe before 1900. This mill shipped ninety carloads of ties in one month. This is possibly George Witherspoon, who, with his brother Jim, were sawmill operators at Goodrich, in Polk County, around the turn of the century.
